How One Moisturizer Changed Our Lives

How One Moisturizer Changed Our Lives

Struggling with dry, flaky, dehydrated skin? Tired of hyperpigmentation, dark uneven skin, rashes and breakouts? Whew! Name a skin issue and 9/10 we’ve had it! Learn how one moisturizer changed our lives!

What is Body Butter?

Body butter is a deeply hydrating skin moisturizer. It is typically a thick cream made of cocoa butter, shea butter, and/or mango butter. Some butters are also infused with essential oils and other ingredients for an added indulgence for your skin. Body butter’s unique formula means that it can help protect your skin from dryness and help you recover from rough or dry skin. It does so by locking in moisture.

It can also help aging skin that is losing its ability to stay moisturized, healthy-looking, and luminous. Some formulas may also contain special ingredients that address specific skin issues, such as emollients, to soften the skin or humectants to add a dose of moisture.

How To Use Body Butter

Another great quality of all body butters is that they are easy-to-use and serve many purposes. Read the following ideas for some inspiration as to how you can use them to achieve your personal skin goals!

    • If you’re looking to relax, try using a body butter before bedtime after shower or bath. This can help relax your senses while you drift off to sleep and deeply moisturize your skin overnight.
    • Use body butter immediately after you shower to deeply moisturize your skin and prevent moisture loss. If you shave, applying body butter to your skin afterward can also help moisturize your skin and prevent dryness. Use one of our luxurious Bath Whips as a soap/shave butter! They’re awesome at preventing razor burns and ingrowns!
    • If you experience dryness on common trouble spots—examples include elbows, knees, and ankles—regularly apply body butter to these areas. This can help to improve your skin's texture and prevent future dryness.
    • Are you pregnant? Apply body butter to keep your skin moisturized and reduce the chances of getting stretch marks throughout your pregnancy.
    • If you have very dry hands or feet, use body butter as an overnight treatment to help improve your skin overnight. To do so, apply a thick layer of body butter to your hands and feet. Then, cover them with gloves or socks to prevent the moisturizer from rubbing off. Remove your gloves or socks in the morning and rinse off any excess product that is left over.
    • If you spend a day outdoors, apply body butter after your fun day in the sun is over. This can help you to avoid dryness from everyday exposure to the outdoors. Our body butters have excellent SPF properties, helping to protect you from damaging UV rays.
  • Are you prone to acne or breakouts? Our unique Body Butter formula is non comedogenic and will not clog pores! We recommend using our Fragrance Free when applying to the face or sensitive areas.

Body Butter vs. Lotion

At this point, you may be asking yourself a very understandable question: "what is so special about body butter?" On the surface, it may seem to be the same thing as body lotion. In reality, there are quite a few differences between the two, including the following examples:

    • Body butter is thicker than lotion. This makes it great for deep moisturization.
    • Since body butter is a heavier product, it's a great choice to use right before bed or during a relaxing spa day. On the other hand, lotion is more effective as a daily moisturizer.
    • Body butter tends to contain thick butters and oils—such as shea butter, coconut oil, and cocoa butter—compared to lotion.
    • Lotion tends to have a lighter formula, so it's great for daytime use. Since it is a lighter product, you may need to apply it more times throughout the day than you would with body butter.
  • Lotion tends to contain more water and less oil than body butter contains. This is why lotion tends to be a lighter formula that absorbs faster.
All in all, you need to choose the right moisturizer formula for your needs. Try using a mixture of body butter and all-day body lotion in your daily skincare routine to find the perfect regimen for you. You may find that a combination of body butter and lotion helps you keep your skin looking and feeling healthy all day, every day.
